Butterflies & Starlings

We met Jean's Uncle John this morning at the Butterfly House, near the hydro-electric power station, not far from Jean's home village of Bow Street.  We entered the little 'house', kept sufficiently humid for its contents, and had a good inspection of the 25 butterfly species that were to be found here.  They are very colourful, and we spent some time admiring them and photographing them.  Many varied species of plants were also on site, also a rhinoceros cockroach from Queensland, various other bugs, as well as an extremely large moth, who only moves when provoked.  Needless to say, I wanted to provoke it, but I behaved myself.  We went to the cafe instead, and had coffee with John.

At lunch time today, we celebrated Mag's actual 80th birthday by dining at Aberystwyth's newest attraction, The Starling Cloud, a very nice restaurant on Boulevard St Brieuc, near Parc y Llyn, and named after the thousands of starlings that are known to roost around the Aberystwyth Pier.  Here, we caught up with Jean's godmother, Aunty Eleanor, and her daughter, Annwen.  It was great to see them again.
